CD: Requiem Johannes Ockeghem, Bent Sørensen
Paul Hillier challenged Bent Sørensen to create a total work from Ockeghem’s 15th Century Requiem and the requiem movements Sørensen himself had composed between 1985 and 2005. With 500 years between the compositions there was a danger of it becoming a collage of isolated movements, but the work unites stylistic contrasts to create a whole, integrated piece. My assignment was to create a visual that also integrated a sense of the old and of the new into a cohesive design.
